ARTIST BIOGRAPHY.

Abigail Gampel came into solo work through Tiny Mythic’s American Living Room Series. Her first show, Underground Goddess, centered around a woman wrestling with the desires and fears of being visible. Other solo shows followed: Images Through Silk, I Slept With a Beautiful Woman This Afternoon, Underground Goddess: Wings of Glass, and Through the Window, about the twin experiences of new motherhood and loss. Performed with Tiny Mythic for many seasons at the Ohio Theatre on Wooster Street and then at HERE, originating the roles of Alice Russel in Lizzie Borden, A Rock ’n Roll Musical, Elektra in The Elektrafugues, and Jayne Mansfield in Carson Kreitzer’s Dead Wait. Working with Jack Saul and the International Trauma Studies Program, Directed Everything’s Back to Normal in NYC, Below Canal - a Work in Progress, co-created with actors, activists, therapists  and people directly affected by 9/11 to honor resilience and community. Served as co-chair of Members council of The Ensemble Studio Theatre and as a board member and serves now as an artist board member at HERE. Currently an affiliated artist of New Georges.
